Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing and energising therapeutic massage based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) meridian therapy. Using hands, thumbs, elbows, and stretches, Shiatsu moves energy (Qi) through the body to restore balance, strengthen the body, and relieve muscular and joint pain, stress, and tension. Treatments may include periods of stillness or gentle pressure, tailored to your unique needs. Cupping or Moxa may also be  used over specific acupressure points during treatment.

Complementary Oriental Therapies

Guasha (Spooning or Scraping)

Guasha uses a smooth-edged tool to gently scrape the skin, releasing stagnant Qi and blood, improving circulation, and reducing pain and tension in the neck, back, and shoulders. Particularly effective for headaches, fatigue, and chronic muscular tension, this therapy may leave temporary red marks known as Sha, which fade naturally within a few days.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping attaches small glass cups to the skin using heat or suction to create negative pressure. This therapy promotes circulation, relieves muscular aches, clears toxins, and supports energy flow. Cupping is ideal for stress, chronic tension, and postural strain, helping the body heal naturally while restoring vitality.

Moxibustion (Moxa Therapy)

Moxibustion uses burning mugwort herb (moxa) to deliver gentle heat to specific acupoints or meridians. This therapy nourishes depleted areas, reduces inflammation, relieves muscle and joint pain, and supports energy flow. Moxibustion complements Shiatsu and other Oriental therapies, enhancing overall balance and wellbeing.

Our Oriental therapy treatments often include guidance based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), such as TCM foods, lifestyle adjustments, gentle stretches, and relaxation practices.
