Reformer Pilates
Move Better, Feel Stronger
“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.” – Joseph Pilates
We know that maintaining an active lifestyle is important. And we also know that sometimes, maintaining a routine or getting started with exercise when you’ve been out of action for a little while can feel overwhelming. Especially if you're dealing with pain, or recovering from something be it physical or emotional, or even just not feeling like your best self.
Reformer Pilates offers a supportive and gentle way to ease into exercise, no matter your fitness level. It helps you build strength, move better, and feel more confident in your body, all while improving your overall health and wellbeing.
Why Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout that strengthens your core, improves flexibility, and supports better posture; all without stressing your joints. The Reformer uses springs and pulleys to give you a smooth, controlled workout that adapts to your fitness level, whether you're just starting out or already active. After all, physical exercise doesn’t have to be punishing to be good for you. Reformer Pilates is a great option because it is so versatile and accommodating, no matter your age or your fitness level, your instructor can plan a session that is right for you. And because it’s such a mindful practice, Pilates can help you reconnect with your body, to be more in tune with how you move and how you feel, for longer-term functional independence.
Reformer Pilates strengthens and stabilises the body, offering a range of benefits:
Improved Core Strength: Exercises focus on deep core muscles, enhancing stability and overall strength.
Enhanced Flexibility: Controlled, stretching movements increase joint flexibility, helping reduce injury risk.
Better Posture: Pilates supports spine alignment and muscular balance, for better posture.
Low Impact for Joint Health: It’s gentle on the joints, making it a safe option for injury recovery and prevention.
Increased Muscle Tone: Targeted resistance improves muscle tone and body definition.
Mind-Body Connection: The focus on breath and precision promotes mindfulness and mental relaxation.

Pre and Post - Natal Reformer Pilates
Pregnancy and childbirth bring profound changes to the body, and Reformer Pilates can help support these transitions. Our pre- and post-natal Pilates sessions are designed to address the specific needs of mothers (or mothers-to-be), helping to strengthen the body, improve posture, and reduce common discomforts like back pain.
During pregnancy, maintaining strength and flexibility can ease labor and promote faster recovery. Post-natally, Pilates helps to rebuild core strength, promote healing, and support your return to everyday activities, confidently. By focusing on appropriate and effective movements, pre- and post-natal Pilates supports mothers at every stage.
Our sessions are led by qualified instructors who are experienced in working with pre- and post-natal clients, ensuring that each exercise is safe and suitable throughout the journey from the first to the third trimester, and then beyond.

FAQs
-
Absolutely! Pilates is perfect for all fitness levels, especially beginners. Our Reformer classes are designed to meet you where you're at, whether you're starting your fitness journey or looking for a way to move without pain. We’ll guide you through every step, helping you build strength and confidence at a pace that feels right for you.
-
While both forms of Pilates focus on core strength, flexibility, and alignment, Reformer Pilates uses a machine (the Reformer) that adds resistance through springs and pulleys. This allows for a more controlled and varied workout, and the added resistance can make certain exercises more supportive or more challenging, depending on your needs. It's great for building strength and improving mobility while being easy on the joints.
-
1-on-1 Reformer Pilates provides a highly personalized experience, with the instructor tailoring exercises to your specific fitness level, goals, and any physical limitations or injuries. This allows for more focused attention and detailed adjustments, which can help maximize your results and ensure proper form. Group Reformer classes, on the other hand, offer a more social experience with a set workout that’s adjusted to fit the group’s general skill level. While instructors still guide participants and make some individualized adjustments, group sessions are generally less customized and move at a set pace.
-
Consistency is key! Ideally, we recommend practicing Reformer Pilates at least 2 times a week to see noticeable improvements in strength, flexibility, and posture. That being said, even just once a week can bring benefits, and it’s always important to listen to your body and find a routine that works for you.

Yes! Pilates is often recommended for those with back pain or recovering from injuries because it focuses on strengthening the core, improving posture, and increasing flexibility—all of which can relieve pressure on your spine and joints. Our instructors are experienced in adapting exercises to suit your needs, ensuring a safe and supportive workout.

For your first session, all you need is comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows you to move easily (think yoga pants or leggings and a fitted top). Grippy socks are a great idea, as they help you stay stable on the Reformer. We provide all the equipment, so just bring a water bottle and an open mind!

Yes, Reformer Pilates can be safe during pregnancy, but it’s essential to work with a certified instructor experienced in prenatal Pilates. Reformer Pilates offers low-impact, controlled exercises that can help maintain strength, stability, and flexibility throughout pregnancy. Modifications are often made to ensure safety, especially as your body changes across the trimesters. Certain positions and exercises may be avoided to protect both you and your baby, so it’s best to consult with both your doctor and a qualified Pilates instructor before starting or continuing Reformer Pilates during pregnancy.
